Gaming Hardware

Some of you may think that the screenshots i post for the previous games are CGI (computer generated image).Well it's not, all of the screens are rendered in real time. This is what next-gen games are all about. And to be able to play these games u need more than just the standard pc. At least a graphics card that is capable of Direct X 10 and shader model 4.0. To be able to play games under direct x 10, you will need Microsoft Windows Vista as your operating system.

The new mid range card by Nvidia called the 8800GT has already been released and the review about it is great. It has a high end profile without the high end price.

Display capabilities

The GeForce 8 series supports 10-bit per channel display output, up from 8-bit on previous NVIDIA cards. This potentially allows higher fidelity color representation and separation on capable displays. The GeForce 8 series, like its recent predecessors, also supports Scalable Link Interface (SLI) for multi-card rendering.

NVIDIA's PureVideo HD video rendering technology is an improved version of the original PureVideo introduced with GeForce 6. It now includes GPU-based hardware acceleration for decoding HD movie formats, post-processing of HD video for enhanced images, and optional High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) support at the card level.

8800 GT

The 8800 GT, codenamed G92, was released on October 29, 2007. The card is the first to transition to 65nm process, and supports PCI-Express 2.0. It has a single-slot cooler as opposed to the double slot cooler on the 8800 GTS and GTX. The 8800 GT, unlike other 8800 cards, is equipped with the PureVideo 2 engine for GPU assisted decoding of the H.264 and VC-1 codecs. Current performance benchmarks show it to outperform all but the Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB graphics card - which is just slightly above in performance. Presently, cards utilizing the chip are retailing from USD $269 (reference models) to USD $299 (for overclocked models) MSRP(512MB) in the US, and £165 for reference models and up to £190 for overclocked versions in the UK.

Unreal Tournament 3

Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) is a first-person shooter video game and the next installment of the Unreal series after Unreal Tournament 2004. It is being developed by Epic Games, to be published by Midway Games in November 2007 for Windows. The Linux installer will be released later as a downloadable installer that works with the Windows disc. The game will be released on the Xbox 360 game console in late 2008. The PlayStation 3 version is likely to be released early in 2008 or in late december if finished.

Unreal Tournament 3 is actually the fourth game in the Unreal Tournament series, but has been numbered in terms of the engine it runs on. The original Unreal Tournament uses the original Unreal Engine, while UT2003 and UT2004 use the Unreal Engine 2; therefore they are considered as the same generation. UT3 is subsequently part of the third generation, because it runs on the Unreal Engine 3, but also due to the fact that this installment includes a single player campaign mode reminiscent of the Unreal and Unreal 2.

Hellgate:London

From the creators of the diablo franchise comes a new game called Hellgate:London, like Supreme Commander u can say that this game(Hellgate:London)is a spiritual successor to Diablo. The game has the same diablo style of gameplay, with a lot of new additions. This time around you could choose to either play in first-person or third person mode, this is possible due to the game being in full 3d.

Game Premise

Hellgate: London takes place in 2038, post-apocalyptic London. London has been invaded by demons from Hell. Up until recently, humans have had many champions looking to hold back the flood. Various real-world events are referenced in the background of the Hellgate story as averted crossover attempts. The Crusades were actually undertaken to fight back the minions of Hell, as was the charring of London in the Great Fire to wipe out the Plague. According to the story line, the famous Knights Templar were the keepers of knowledge on how to battle these demonic forces. Unfortunately, these heroes underwent a charring of their own at the hands of a jealous King Phillip IV, who hated the power they held in the world at large. While the Knights Templar survived as an organization, their numbers were severely diminished and were forced to remain in hiding to stay alive. As time passed and technology progressed, the old ways began to fade from memory and the secrets of the arcane were lost. When the demons attacked again, they found their enemies unprepared. Ordinary weapons were no use against the demons, who could shrug off an RPG round. The Templars offered their special services to the military, but the leaders balked, refusing to believe in the old truths. Hellgate quickly took the victory in the battle for Earth. The Burn, a decades-long process of "hellforming", has begun. However all is not lost, as various groups have been preparing for just such an eventuality. Freemasons built the London Underground to be demon resistant, and as such the stations now act as bases, "safe zones" for would-be defenders. These defenders are armed with a fusion of modern weaponry and arcane magic such as flamethrowers that throw Greek fire or swords covered in locusts. In the game, players get to be one of these defenders.

10 days to Crysis

The most anticipated game of the year is finally arriving this 15th November. The game that will crush even the most powerful pc.In the mean time u could test your pc by downloading the Crysis demo to see if your pc could handle it.

In brief
Crysis is an upcoming science fiction first-person shooter computer game, that is being developed by Crytek, and published by Electronic Arts. It will be released on November 15, 2007 in Australia, and the next day in Europe and North America. Crysis is based in a fictional future where an alien race has invaded Earth. The single player campaign has the player assume the role of United States Delta Force operative Jake Dunn. Dunn is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nano Muscle Suit". According to Crytek senior game designer Bernd Diemer, the suit was inspired by the United States' Future Warrior 2020 program. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in four different locations: a tropical island jungle; an American aircraft carrier; inside an "Ice Sphere", which will consist of the same jungle, but frozen; and the alien ship itself, some parts of which will be zero-gravity. Crysis will utilize Microsoft's new API, Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) for graphics rendering, and will include the same editor that was used by Crytek to create the game.

Need For Speed's latest addition

Since a lot of new great games are coming out this year , I will try to get as much info on the latest game and will post em here.So most of my post will be about games that are coming out, notice also that I am only covering for really2 great games that are worth playing, and all games covered are pc games.

A New Gameplay

Need for Speed: ProStreet will take the Need for Speed series in a new direction of gameplay. Instead of an arcade style of gameplay which has dominated the series, ProStreet will focus much more on realism and move closer to, but not into, racing simulation, and still with options to use driving assistants to make driving easier and more arcade-like. Unlike its predecessors, all racing in ProStreet will take place on closed tracks, thus making it the first game in the series not animating illegal racing behaviour since Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, hence there will not be any police in the game. Performance tuning will take up a large part of gameplay in a way that even a small adjustment of the shape of a car's body will impact its performance. Autosculpt is back from Carbon, but with much greater detail. According to an Electronic Arts employee, there will be thousands of aftermarket upgrades, visual and performance, from real performance brands.[3]

ProStreet will feature next-generation graphics aiming for a more photo-realistic feel, and more advanced physics. It will also be the first Need for Speed game to include damage modelling since 2000's Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. The new damage system is said to be very accurate, as a collision with any object in the game world may render a car damaged or even useless

These are the screenshots for the new Need For Speed game , its coming out sometime in November, will try to get more coverage on it, in the mean time here are the screenshots. These are actual screenshots people....

StarCraft 2 in the works

Before that, a brief history of StarCraft....

StarCraft is a real-time strategy game by Blizzard Entertainment. It was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 1998. A Mac OS version of the game was released in 1999, and a port to the Nintendo 64 was released in 2000. The main storyline follows a war among three galactic species: the adaptable and mobile Terrans, who are descendants of Human outcasts from Earth; the hive mind arthropodal Zerg; and the psionic humanoid Protoss warriors.

StarCraft was the best-selling computer game in 1998[1] and won the Origins Award for Best Strategy Computer Game of that year.[2] StarCraft was listed on IGN's "Top 100 Games of All Time" feature as #7, and in 2006, received a Star on the Walk of Game at Metreon, San Francisco. Nine million copies of StarCraft and its expansion pack, StarCraft: Brood War, have been sold since its release,[3] making it the third best-selling computer game in history (behind The Sims and The Sims 2). It is especially popular in South Korea, where professional players and teams participate in matches, earn sponsorships, and compete in televised matches.[4] Blizzard initially intended to continue the story with the tactical shooter StarCraft: Ghost, which was later put on hold indefinitely.

Now after nearly 10 years the sequel, StarCraft II,had been announced on May 19, 2007, in Seoul, South Korea. It has been speculated to the be the most anticipated game of all time.

StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival.

Featuring a unique single-player campaign that picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. In addition, Blizzard will again offer unparalleled online play through Battle.net, the company's world-renowned gaming service, with several enhancements and new features to make StarCraft II the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.

Features:

  • Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the magic of the original game
  • Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg
  • New units and gameplay mechanics further distinguish each race
  • Groundbreaking single-player campaign
  • Vibrant new 3D-graphics engine with support for dazzling visual effects and massive unit and army sizes
  • Full multiplayer support, with new competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net
  • Full map-making and scripting tools to give players incredible freedom in customizing and personalizing their gameplay experience

Mario's Super Mushroom

I found a great article on the net related to Super Mario.U know the halcyon days of Mario , where he would eat a mushroom and grow bigger so u could easily stomp on the goombas , remember those days.Well apparently the mushroom is real, and here it is.

Yup. The Super Mushroom is real. Sorta. That's the Amanita muscaria, commonly called "fly mushroom," that's found in Northern Europe and Scandavia. Eating it won't cause abnormal growth, but hallucinations or even death. With the way some people are, I'm just surprised some moron hasn't gotten sick eating one of these and then blamed it on Nintendo! So, remember kids, don't ingest things you find in the forest. Words to live by!

P/S:I wonder how they taste like??

The New GT , no it's not a car

I know Raya's coming up and i should be looking forward to that, but instead I'm looking forward for the new upcoming Nvidia card thats coming out at the end of this month (probably its going to be called 8800GT).I must say thats its the best card I've seen thus far , u guys probably wouldnt understand if i were to get into all the technical details but just look at it.The card itself is the most sexiest card I've ever seen.A high performing card thats very slim. Most high end cards are bulky, noisy, takes 2 slots in your pc, and produce lots of heat, and thats a big no no in this time and age.So a high performing card that doesn't have the disadvantages of a high end card deserves my attention. I will definitely get me one of those. Will need to save up for it first, there goes my allowance.

p/s:Currently using an Nvidia Geforce 6600GT 128mb DDR3 , sad rite.But then again u wouldn't understand.

Hiatus starts now

It's thursday, while most of the students here have gone back to their humble abode, I'm still here in college spending my last moments before the holiday starts. It's depressingly quiet here.Raya is coming in the next 2 days, so it's only normal this time of the year for the hostel area to be completely empty.I guess there's only a few students left, not sure if any of them are staying here for the duration of the holiday which is 1 week.I'll be going back myself today. Not much of a hiatus for me tho since I have lots of assignments to finish.

I would like to apologize for any mistakes I had done especially to family and friends , Know that I never meant to hurt anyone.Have a wonderful raya ahead, and if you'll be driving back on a long journey remember to drive safely.

~Selamat Hari Raya , Maaf Zahir Batin
Best Wishes
